The NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Team Award is an award given to varsity only teams who have a requisite # of players whose composite average is 90 or above. The requisite number varies from team to team. Players whose average is below 90 but above 85 may be named to the team if their average is required to make the team average compute to 90 or higher. In some cases, such as boys soccer, so many team members have very high averages that we included the additional honor students. We decided to acknowledge them on all teams, as we do have an impressive number of fall student athletes achieving honors in the classroom.
