Students in Mr. Gillis' 9th period Robotics Class put their technical skills to the test as teams competed in a Sumo-Robotics challenge.
The competition took place in the Aquinas Student Union, generating enthusiasm from additional AQ departments and clubs.
The Art Department created the competition ring, painting a large board, with a black circle. "The robots have sensors, which stop them from moving beyond the boundary of the black circle," said Mr. Gillis. Several teachers and students viewed the competition, which was videotaped by the Communications Club, and broadcast live on a flat-screen television in the Union.
The Robotics class created a video documenting the event. View it by clicking this link: AQ Sumo-Robots Competition.
